resources,

the jumps™
This is going to be a special post in The Jumps™ series and will be my post for the month of February… I have been collecting some of the top sites for free (and not crappy) resources for graphic designers and web developers. Everything from textures to web apps… it is all here for the taking. And you can expect more to come!
- www.LostandTaken.com - This is an amazing collection of free, high res textures. This site is the best I have ever found. Hands down, no other site has this many top notch textures in one place. The film textures are my favorite so far. So much character.
- www.free3dstextures.com - This is another amazing and extremely comprehensive collection of Creative Commons textures. This was a site that I stumbled upon through one of my twitter feeds. The site is run by Dustin Senos who is a very talented programmer from BC, Canada. Oh and did I mention it is supplied via flickr? Seriously… this kid aint messing around. Rumor has it, the site is going to get a face lift soon… stay tuned
- www.chracterencoder.com - This is another great site that Dustin Senos has put together. A must use for quickly preparing content taken from a local computer for the web.
- Web Development Project Estimator - There are a few of these bad boys available on the internet for free, but this one is special because I have had some email correspondance with one of it’s creators and I am all about helping out friends. So, use it, digg it, and get your quotes all clean and polished (with the correct math!) for you next six figure project.
- AIGA Standard Form of Agreement for Design Services - We all know that AIGA is an amazing collection of designers and graphic artists. But they are also an amazing resource to those who work in the industry. This is a very comprehensive contract that covers just about every base their possibly is when getting terms set for a potential job. The best part, is it explains itself and how it is best used. All the legal mumbo jumbo with a layman’s explanation.
